What is an acceptable use policy? An acceptable use policy is a document that outlines rules and conditions that must be followed by users of technology to help ensure their safety. The policy clearly states what is allowed and is not allowed by the user when using the devices. This document covers a wide range of issues regarding the rights, responsibilities, and privileges that come with the use of technology. |
Why is it important to have an acceptable use policy? Technology and the internet are great resources, but can also become unsafe if not used correctly. An acceptable use policy teaches responsibility when using technology. A written agreement signed by staff, students, and parents helps to make sure there is a clear understanding of what is allowed when using technology. Agreeing to the terms of the acceptable use policy is the "ticket" to having access to technology and the internet. This policy is in place to help ensure safety, as well as outline appropriate behavior when using technology and the internet. |
